Telco vs Oil vs Banking mana yang terbaik

Beberapa tahun lalu seorang adik kelas bingung menanyakan pilihan karirnya antara Engineer di Schlumberger dan Ericsson. Belum selesai kebingungannya ini, tiba-tiba datang pilihan lain dari Citibank. Akhirnya entah ceritanya bagaimana rekan saya tersebut memilih Citibank. Belum satu tahun dia pindah lagi ke Telkomsel, dan entah kenapa dua tahun ini dia berencana pindah ke Chevron. Pusing kan kalau sudah begini.

Cerita seperti diatas banyak terjadi dikalangan premium graduate di negeri ini. Premium graduate ini mendapatkan banyak kesempatan bekerja di top employeer di setiap kategorinya. Menyenangkan bukan, tapi mendapatkan kesempatan sebanyak ini bisa berarti mimpi buruk ketika kita tidak mengetahui industrial comparison secara utuhnya dan memutuskan untuk blind choice.

Kalau kita dihadapkan dalam sebuah pilihan, selain ijtihad (berdoa mohon petunjuk) ada baiknya kita melakukan analisa kecil dengan pilihan tersebut. Berikut sedikit overview antara tiga industri diatas. Metode analisa ini bisa diterapkan dalam industri lain, misalnya membandingkan manufactur dengan trading industri ataupun PNS misalnya. Mudahnya, ada begitu banyak faktor lain dalam merencakan karir, tidak hanya dari gaji belaka.
